On February 22, 2024, the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in a thematic conference and presented the publication "Women and Men in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

At the beginning of the conference, Director Vesna Ćužić welcomed the attending partners, media representatives, and guests, including Dr. Sevlid Hurtić, Minister of the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Samra Filipović-Hadžiabdić, the Director of the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH.

Director Ćužić, in her speech, emphasized the key role of gender statistics and the project "Support for Gender Equality", as well as official statistics in the process of European integration. The Agency for Statistics of BiH, as the coordinator of official statistics in the country, is making significant efforts to improve the statistical system in order to provide quality data to domestic and foreign users.

Since 2005, gender statistics, with a focus on the publication "Women and Men in Bosnia and Herzegovina", has become a tool for monitoring social changes. The Director highlighted the Agency's continuous efforts to improve the visual presentation and accessibility of information in the publication, making it an indispensable source of relevant data on the status of women and men in society.

Reflecting on the financing of the "Support for Gender Equality" project, Vesna Ćužić expressed gratitude to the Swedish government and UN Women for their support. She praised the cooperation with all data providers and users of statistical information who actively contribute to the quality of data and the achievement of expectations.

She concluded her presentation with a call for further support of initiatives promoting gender equality and emphasized the importance of cooperation of all participants in achieving the set goals. Some data from the publication "Women and Men in Bosnia and Herzegovina" were presented during the conference. The presented data partially guided the discussions held through the panel at the end of the conference.

In the second part of the conference, Aida Eskić Pihljak presented some data from the publication "Women and Men in Bosnia and Herzegovina". This year's publication aimed to achieve a better visual representation of data, so certain data were presented through images and infographics. The publication can serve as a source of information for all users interested in the status of women and men and gender equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The topic of the panel discussion was: The Role of Gender Statistics in the Process of European Integration.

The panelists included Darija Ramljak, Assistant Director of the Directorate for European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kika Babić - Svetlin, a professional advisor for planning, drafting, and monitoring the GENDER action plan at the Agency for Gender Equality of BiH, and Dr. Bojan Baškot, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka.
