This information system enables the user to browse the published data by means of on-line navigation mechanisms. The system enables the user to access the required information, without predefined access paths, by autonomously identifying the information of interest and by visualising aggregate data statistical tables.

The selection of the tables of interest can be accomplished by setting all (or a part of) the basic table parameters: the statistic object, the classifications, the territory (in terms of territorial partitioning, area and detail), and the year of interest.
The statistic object represents the focus of the analysis. Objects are grouped according to thematic areas, hierarchically organised and displayed using a common tree visualisation. In this way, the user can select generic object (in the higher part of the hierarchy) or more detailed ones.
The classifications represent the statistical characters that can be used to classify the data. Similar to objects, classifications can also be selected at several distinct levels of detail and generic classifications are those in the higher part of the hierarchy.
The year represents the temporal reference of data, while the territorial partitioning identifes the system used to partition the territory. For example the "administrative" territorial partitioning subdivides the Bosnia and Herzegovina territory in (with increasing level of detail) nation, geographical areas and cantons/regions. Data are territorially aggregated according to such partitionings.
Once the territorial partitioning has been selected, the user can select the specific territory of interest inside that partitioning, in terms of both area and level o detail of the data. For example the user may choose Bosnia and Herzegovina with geographical area detail, and consequently view the data for the whole nation (area) up to the geographical area level (territorial detail).
The selection parameters are synchronised and interdependent and the tables proposed for visualisation correspond to the combination of all selected parameters, according to the level of detail expressed by the user.

If no classification has been selected, the user may also select more objects and then proceed to a combined view of data belonging to different thematic areas (e.g. "number of households" and "resident population aged less than 6 years".
The tables obtained may also be downloaded, saved and further processed on the user's PC in a common spreadsheet format.

In order to support the user in the navigation of this data warehouse, a Quick guide, as well as a more comprehensive Help is available to the users. The Glossary secction contains some definitions about terms, classifications and corresponding modalities used by the system. Some methodological notes can be found in the Remarks section.
